The first day of the tournament was for competing, bonding with teammates, and meeting Annika for the first time for many of the golfers. Today, the second day, was for education and inspiration. It was a chance for the girls to learn from Annika, and to gain knowledge on how to improve their golf game and to become inspired to reach for their dreams, just like Annika did.
The 6th annual ANNIKA Cup, a tournament for 12 of the top Swedish female junior golfers, began on Tuesday. It is being held on Annika’s home course Bro-Balsta GK in Bro, Sweden. The concept of the tournament is to integrate training with a competition element, while also introducing drills and techniques Annika uses for herself and at her Academy.
The 12 girls split into two groups of six becoming the “lila” (purple) and the “rosa” (pink) teams coached by Annika’s longtime best friend, Maria and Lisa. On the first day of the tournament the teams
played singles and “Pink” beat “Purple.” The girls are all from various parts of Sweden and room together during the tournament. It’s a great opportunity for them to bond and make friends with other girls of the same age who are also talented, young, aspiring golfers.

SWEDEN, 5:30 p.m. — Today was the final day of the 5th annual ANNIKA Cup and I must say, it was the most exciting. The teams played foursomes and match-play and the entire tournament was literally decided by the final group on the 18th hole. Marina Hedlund from Northern Sweden chipped in for birdie to win her match one up and secure victory for the Red Team.
