ANNIKA Junior Day in memory of Holly Baxter is a junior golf event held annually at the ANNIKA Academy. The idea stemmed from a loving husband, Bob Baxter, who lost his wife, Holly, to cancer. Since Holly was a huge Annika fan and passionate about junior golf, Bob and his family made a significant gift to the ANNIKA Foundation in her name and asked that the Foundation use it to create a special day for underprivileged junior golfers.
Each year, the ANNIKA Foundation hosts 80 children from local branches of the Boys and Girls Club and the Orlando Minority Youth Golf Association at the ANNIKA Academy. The children learn about the fundamentals of golf from Annika and the ANNIKA Academy team.
The event hosts 40 OMYGA guests in the morning and 40 Boys & Girls Club guests in the afternoon. The Academy team provides instruction throughout the day at three golf skills stations and one fitness station, with the two groups gathering together in between sessions for a healthy lunch and golf clinic with Annika.
“Holly loved golf and she loved kids, so I know she would be very proud of this day.” – Bob Baxter
