Inspiration and Healthy Competition Abundant

The first annual ANNIKA Invitational Europe came to a close on Sunday, with Swedish National team member Linnea Strom taking first place. Earlier this summer, Linnea won the European Championship. Strom clinched the top spot on the last few holes, making for a very exciting finish! Strom along with the second place finisher My Leander, and third place finisher Leslie Coots will receive an exemption to the ANNIKA Invitational in Orlando this January. The tournament was very successful and well received by all in attendance. Great competition and an exciting finish, paired with typical Swedish fall weather in the high 50′s made this tournament one to remember.
The Foundation’s goal was to inspire, educate and provide an arena for competition for European junior golfers. Inspiration was provided by having Annika on hand, along with stories from a guest speaker Caroline Larsson, a young female amputee who lost her leg to cancer at only 22 years-old. Education was in the form of skin care, fitness, and nutrition sessions, and the competition was brought to the table by the players themselves. All the Foundation objectives were accomplished (if not exceeded!) making this event first class.
The ANNIKA Invitational Europe continues the goal of the Foundation to provide opportunities for aspiring junior golfers, while also promoting a healthy active lifestyle to youth. We are already looking forward to the 2nd annual ANNIKA Invitational set to take place next year at Landskrona GK, August 7-9, 2013.
