Whole Foods Market at Phillips Crossing in Orlando, FL will host a Community 5% Day Thursday, January 17, to raise money for the ANNIKA Foundation. Five percent of the day’s net sales will be donated to help teach local children the importance of living a healthy, active lifestyle through fitness and nutrition. Annika will also be doing an autograph signing at the location from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. We’re excited to team up with Whole Foods Market for a good cause and hope to see you there!
In 2009, the ANNIKA Foundation partnered with the Women’s Sports Foundation (WSF) to create the ANNIKA Inspiration Award, a national title given annually to a young female athlete who not only excels in her sport, but demonstrates leadership, provides inspiration for others and gives back to her community. As part of its Annual Salute to Women in Sports Gala, the WSF annually presents five major awards across all female sports.The award was given for the third time in 2012 to a young figure skater from Irvine, CA, Lianna Thomas. Thomas was adopted from her native China by her U.S. family when she was just an infant. Drawing from her own life experiences, she was motivated to give back to her community. In 2009, Thomas founded Ice Pandas, a program which introduces figure skating as a confidence building activity for children adopted from China. Read more about her here!
The third annual ANNIKA Junior Day at the ANNIKA Academy this Saturday hosted 40 kids from the Orlando Minority Youth Golf Association for a morning session of golf and fitness instructional stations. 40 kids from the Kissimmee Boys & Girls Clubs then joined the group for lunch and a clinic by Annika. ANNIKA Junior Day in Memory of Holly Baxter is made possible by Bob Baxter, whose family offered a significant gift to the ANNIKA Foundation to commemorate the life of his wife, Holly Baxter, who was a passionate supporter of both junior golf and Annika. Annika was joined by some of the biggest names in sports and entertainment for the inaugural ANNIKA & Friends at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort last weekend. This was the ANNIKA Foundation’s signature event in 2012.
Olympians Michelle Kwan, Dan Jansen and Bode Miller; actor Alfonso Ribeiro; “Dancing With the Stars’” Tony Dovolani; NFL standouts Anthony Munoz, Ricky Waters and Robbie Gould; rock-and-roll legend Alice Cooper; FOX Network host Gerri Willis; and LPGA stars Yani Tseng, Morgan Pressel and Nancy Lopez were just a few of the celebrities on hand.
All proceeds from the event will go toward helping us implement SPARK, the nation’s leading physical education program for children, in Northwest Florida schools.
The festivities kicked off Saturday evening with a VIP reception outdoors at Sandestin’s Grand Lawn and dinner, auction and draw party in Sandestin’s Magnolia Ballroom. Teams were able to bid on the celebrity with whom they wanted to play in Sunday’s tournament, as well as bid on live and silent auction items including dance lessons with Tony Dovolani, signed memorabilia from Annika, Andre Agassi, Cal Ripken, Jr and others, a trip to Telluride and many more. Guests enjoyed a dinner and specially-made dessert of Annika’s own raspberry crisp recipe.
On Sunday, Sandestin’s Raven Golf Club hosted the ANNIKA & Friends Celebrity Tournament won by Cooper’s team with a 13-under-par score of 59.
Best-selling country artist and Hootie and Blowfish frontman Darius Rucker wrapped up the weekend Sunday evening with a concert at Grand Boulevard at Sandestin Town Center. Opening for Darius Rucker were acts Richie Law, Coldwater Jane and the Shadowboxers. Food was provided by Wine World. The concert was enjoyed by more than 2,000 attendees.
ANNIKA & Friends Media Day was an all-day event held at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort in preparation and excitement for ANNIKA & Friends at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort, held May 12 & 13, 2012. The day started off with a press conference, featuring Don Ochsenreiter, president of the ANNIKA Foundation, representatives from Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort and Grand Boulevard (the site of the Darius Rucker concert), and Annika. One-on-one interviews with Annika followed the press conference.
After that, the Young Professionals (YP at the Beach) hosted a luncheon featuring Annika as the guest speaker. She told the crowd about her rise to fame and how she was able to handle it with grace and professionalism. A bottle of Annika’s wine and two tickets to the Darius Rucker concert on May 13 were raffled off.
Following the luncheon with YP, guests enjoyed a VIP meet and greet event with Annika at Burnt Pine in Sandestin. To end the day, SPARK trainer Patty Lanier led students from Bay Elementary in a fun SPARK PE demonstration. Proceeds from ANNIKA & Friends will help the ANNIKA Foundation implement SPARK in Northwest Florida schools following the event. Teachers, administrators, parents, public and media gathered around the fun scene at Grand Boulevard. After the SPARK workout, the Niceville High School girls’ golf team stopped by and were congratulated by Annika on their state win.
The ANNIKA Foundation could not have asked for a classier or more talented artist to work with than Yatin Patel in September 2011. In his art collection, “Sutra,” Yatin introduced the crowd to his beautiful depictions of present-day urban India, printed with custom inks on rare, handmade Japanese kozo paper. This special evening of art and entertainment was held in downtown Orlando, Florida. A portion of the proceeds from Yatin’s artwork sold that evening went to the ANNIKA Foundation.

The ANNIKA Experience at WaterSound, presented by the St. Joe Company and held in Northwest Florida in February 2010, kicked off with a golf clinic hosted by Annika and Mia Hamm, one of the world’s most accomplished and decorated soccer players. After the clinic, the duo was joined by 20 local junior golfers who each played a hole of golf with either Annika or Mia. Jennifer Mills, golf analyst for NBC Sports and former Golf Channel anchor, emceed the match.
Annika and Mia also hosted a luncheon at WaterSound’s Village Commons, where they spoke about the important work of their respective non-profit organizations and took part in a soccer skills challenge with two local soccer clubs.
The next day, Annika hosted a children’s health and wellness clinic with the help of SPARK. The weekend ended with a wine and culinary reception at Fish Out Of Water, where guests were treated to a walkabout dinner featuring local seafood and chef-sourced meats, Annika’s Syrah from Wente Vineyards, signature drinks and entertainment by a local jazz trio. Annika also demonstrated her culinary passion by cooking live with Chef Philip Krajeck, chef de cuisine at Fish Out Of Water and recent nominee of the award for Best Chef in the South.

The ANNIKA Experience at Fiddler’s Elbow presented by Benée Scola Realtors and Company was a tremendous success. Held at Fiddler’s Elbow Country Club in Bedminster, New Jersey, more than $82,000 was raised for the ANNIKA Foundation. The day’s events included a golf outing with 84 golfers and a fitness clinic for 75 local children led by Annika. The kids came from local schools, The First Tee and the LPGA-USGA’s Girls Golf Program to be a part of the clinic.
The Tastes of the Garden State was featured that evening, where more than 150 guests enjoyed the culinary works of eight regionally renowned chefs, as well as Annika’s Syrah.
Silent and live auctions included items such as the ANNIKA Academy Soren-Slam program and a tropical escape to the Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua in Maui, Hawaii.
