Benefactors will Join Annika for a Skills Clinic, 18-Hole Team Competition and Reception to Discuss Her Global Mission to Mentor Young Women

(ORLANDO, Fla.) – The ANNIKA Foundation – golf Hall-of-Famer Annika Sorenstam’s charitable organization – will host a group of its major philanthropic partners at the Country Club of Orlando on Wednesday, Nov. 14.

Participants will spend the day with Annika, first at a skills clinic, followed by an 18-hole team competition and, to end the day, a reception to review Annika’s ongoing Foundation plans. This event will promote her ANNIKA Foundation, which provides opportunities in women’s golf at the junior, collegiate and professional levels while teaching young people the importance of living a healthy, active lifestyle through fitness and nutrition.

“I’m excited to spend time with several of my leading Foundation supporters at the historic Country Club of Orlando,” says Annika. “Their help has been crucial to our successful first decade and will be even more important as we strive to reach even greater heights in the coming years.”

Annika is a 10-time major champion who has spent her career breaking barriers for women in sport. The ANNIKA Foundation is devoted to growing the game of golf around the world. It annually hosts six girls-only invitational tournaments on five continents: the ANNIKA Invitational USA presented by Rolex, the ANNIKA Invitational Europe (Sweden), ANNIKA Invitational Mission Hills (China), the ANNIKA Invitational Latin America (Argentina) and, new for 2018, the ANNIKA Invitational Australasia (New Zealand). The Foundation also runs the ANNIKA Cup, ANNIKA Intercollegiate presented by 3M and bestows the prestigious ANNIKA Award presented by 3M to NCAA Division I’s best female golfer.

Since the inaugural Foundation tournament – the 2009 ANNIKA Invitational USA presented by Rolex – hundreds of ANNIKA event participants have earned college scholarships and degrees. Thirty-two ANNIKA alumnae have earned LPGA Tour cards. Twenty-four alumnae competed in the 2018 ANA Inspiration.

Some of Annika’s partners scheduled to join the gathering are GrayRobinson, Golf Channel, Edyth Bush Charitable Foundation, Dr. Phillips Charities, Martin Andersen – Gracia Andersen Foundation, The Mortgage Firm, Wasserman Foundation, Ruth’s Chris and The Bockorny Group.

GrayRobinson shareholder and ANNIKA Foundation board chairman, Jay Brennan, spearheaded this get-together with Brett Lindquist of The Mortgage Firm.

“Annika’s career epitomizes the pursuit of excellence,” says Brennan. “She is an outstanding role model for young women around the world. We are so honored to have the support of the three major charitable foundations in Central Florida along with our other foundation and corporate partners to further Annika’s mission. We also give special thanks to the Country Club of Orlando for being such an outstanding venue and host.”
