Grace Kim Claims Inaugural Australasia Title

Updated: Dec 19, 2019

Australia’s Grace Kim continued her dominance at Royal Wellington Golf Club this week to win the inaugural ANNIKA Invitational Australasia by three shots.

After yesterday's record-breaking round of 10-under par 62, she didn’t slow down, signing for a round of four-under 68 to close out a clinical victory on her first visit to New Zealand.

“It feels amazing, today was a great day and this whole week has been incredible. Words can’t explain how happy I am with this week, so it will be a memorable one,” beamed Kim.

“Putts kept dropping in on the front nine and then a bit of a struggle on the back nine but I hung in there and am really happy with myself. If I am able to attend the ANNIKA Invitational USA presented by Rolex, it will be a huge honor.”

“My whole team was awesome this week so big shout out to them for a great week.”

To have an 18th birthday, a personal best and an ANNIKA Invitational best all in the one week, “great” is an understatement for the Sydney-based golfer who has a promising future ahead.

Round one leader, Yuka Saso of the Philippines, was unable to keep up with Kim but will be joining her at the ANNIKA Invitational USA in January at the World Golf Village. Accompanying them will be third-place finisher Doey Choi from Australia.

The inaugural ANNIKA Invitational Australasia was a huge success and exposed a lot of upcoming talent in the Australasia region. A big thank you to New Zealand Golf, Royal Wellington Golf Club and all our sponsors, especially the R&A, for all their help and support. We are already looking forward to next year's event.
