Girls Invited to Tell Annika Why They Love Golf for Chance to Attend Event at

Southern Highlands Golf Club

(ORLANDO, Fla.) – The ANNIKA Foundation – golf Hall-of-Famer Annika Sorenstam’s charitable organization – will return to Las Vegas’s Southern Highlands Golf Club on October 27 for its next “Share My Passion” clinic.

In partnership with the Southern Nevada Junior Golf Association, girls between the ages of six and 12 who live in the state are invited to write an open letter to Annika telling her why they love golf, and why other girls should learn how to play. Annika and her team will invite authors of the 40 most-compelling notes to attend a clinic headlined by the 10-time major champion and winner of 72 LPGA events.

The day will begin with a healthy lunch, followed by groups rotating through stations taught by Annika and instructors covering the fundamentals of driving, putting and the importance of fitness. After that, Annika will conduct her clinic and discuss topics ranging from the best approach to pre-round warm ups to course management to shot execution.

The deadline for letter submission is Sunday, October 13; an entry form can be found here.

“I’m excited to return to Southern Highlands this fall and share why I’m so passionate about all that golf offers, both on and off the course,” says Annika. “Spending time with young girls who’re so enthusiastic reminds me of how I felt when I first fell in love with the game.”

Toro, The DICKS Sporting Goods Foundation, the Dan and Sallie Dutton Family Foundation, and Joel and Kim Laub are major supporters of the “Share My Passion” series, which has held other 2019 events in Houston, Monterey, California and Greensboro, North Carolina.

The ANNIKA Foundation is devoted to growing the game of golf around the world. It annually hosts six girls-only invitational tournaments on five continents: the ANNIKA Invitational USA presented by Rolex, the ANNIKA Invitational Europe and ANNIKA Cup (Sweden), ANNIKA Invitational Mission Hills (China), the ANNIKA Invitational Latin America (Uruguay) and the ANNIKA Invitational Australasia (New Zealand). At the college level, it hosts the ANNIKA Intercollegiate presented by 3M and annually bestows the ANNIKA Award presented by Stifel to most outstanding female Division I golfer as voted on by peers, coaches and media.

Since the inaugural Foundation tournament – the 2009 ANNIKA Invitational USA – 45 ANNIKA event alumnae have earned LPGA cards. Twenty-eight alumnae competed in the 2019 ANA Inspiration.
