After winning the German Girls’ Championship just two weeks ago, Örtengren brings home the title at Isaberg Golf Club.
Örtengren started the day four strokes behind the second-round leader, Nora Sundberg, from Stockholm Golf Club. She steadily closed the gap throughout the round, and won the event by a shot after Sundberg made par on the final hole.
“I played well from tee to green, made some putts and was steady throughout the day,” explains the 16-year-old from Linköping. “I’ve been training hard of late, and it was great to be in this form for the ANNIKA Invitational Europe.”
It was a picturesque week at the scenic Isaberg Golf Club, located in both Gislaved municipality (Västra banan, hosted ANNIKA Invitational) and in Gnosjö municipality (Östra banan, hosted ANNIKA Cup).
Örtengren, who is a member of the Swedish Golf Association’s National Team, has a busy summer ahead of her. She says one of her ultimate goals will be to make the PING Junior Solheim Cup team in August.
Thanks to her victory, Örengren will earn an exemption into the Diamond Resorts ANNIKA Invitational USA presented by Rolex, along with runner-up Nora Sundberg and third-place finishers Mathilda Orring and Matilda Jonsson. The event will be held in January 2022 in Orlando, Florida.
